The Southern Alberta Mustangs are a junior hockey club competing in the USPHL Premier division. Based in Stavely, Alberta, the Mustangs were established to provide elite-level junior hockey development to players across Southern Alberta and beyond. We give players the compete environment, coaching, and exposure they need to advance their careers at the college and professional levels.

The Mustangs call the Stavely Arena home. Located in Stavely, Alberta on Highway 2 between Calgary and Lethbridge. The arena is an easy drive for fans and players across the region.

About the League
United States Premier
Hockey League
Hockey League
The USPHL Premier is one of the largest and most competitive junior hockey leagues in North America. Spanning the United States and Canada, the league provides players aged 16–21 with a pathway to NCAA, ACHA, and professional hockey. The Mustangs compete in the Alberta Division of the USPHL Premier, facing off against other Canadian and northern US clubs throughout the season.

League Level
Tier III junior hockey which is a proven development pathway to NCAA Division I, II, III, and ACHA programs across North America.
Age Range
Players ages 16–21 are eligible to compete. The USPHL Premier is an ideal step for players coming out of midget or high school hockey.
Alberta Division
The Mustangs compete in the Alberta Division alongside teams including the Calgary Bandits, Diamond Valley Rockies, Hanna Havoc, and others.
College Advancement
The USPHL has a strong track record of placing players at the college level. Scouts and coaches from NCAA and ACHA programs regularly follow the league.

Competition Level
Tier III Junior
The Mustangs compete at the Tier III junior level. It is a legitimate development league with real college advancement opportunities for players who put in the work.
Player Age Range
Ages 16 – 21
We roster players between the ages of 16 and 21. Most are coming out of high school hockey or AAA midget programs and looking to continue developing while pursuing college opportunities.
Where We Play
Southern Alberta
Home games are played at the Stavely Arena in Stavely, Alberta. Away games take the team across Alberta and occasionally into other USPHL Premier divisions throughout the season.
